With a sports medicine career spanning more than six decades, Professor David Gerrard is an Emeritus Professor at Otago Medical School, an Olympic swimmer, team doctor, former New Zealand Chef de Mission and Medical Commissioner at 12 Olympic Games, including Paris 2024. He is also an inaugural inductee into the New Zealand Sports Hall of Fame.
David will share insights from his remarkable sporting journey and academic career, exploring drugs in sport - how athletes beat the system and how they get caught - neurodiversity in sport, and why the sex binary exists in competition. His experience as a guest speaker on these topics brings a wealth of knowledge and a passion for active living.
