Hailing from São Paulo, Brazil, Fabio Honorio
de Jesus, known professionally as Alibi, has firmly
established himself as a leading figure in the global drum & bass scene. With a musical journey that began in the mid-nineties, his upbringing was enriched by a diverse array of genres, from Brazilian sambato rock, reggae, soul, and funk.
Originally formed as a duo consisting of DJ Chap (Fabio’s previous solo alias) and Level 2 (Pedro E. Lima),Alibi made a significant impact on the drum & bass landscape with their collaborative efforts. Sinceearly2023, Alibi has evolved into a solo project led by DJ Chap, continuing to push boundaries and explore new
sonic territories.
Now based in Vienna, Austria, Alibi has become an established artist in the European music scene. Heoperates his audio production andmixing/mastering studio, '1020 Mastering', where he has worked onprojects for renowned artists such as DJ Marky, DJ Andy, L-Side, Anile, Makoto, Dillinja, DJ Krust, Freitera,
and labels including V Recordings, Innerground, Overview, Human Elements, among many others.
As a radio host, Alibi presents a monthly drum and bass show on Kool FM UK, a British radio station part of the Rinse FM group, since May 2023.
In addition to his solo work, Alibi has collaborated with legendary artists like L-Side, Riya, ClevelandWatkiss MBE, DRS, MC Fats, Charli Brix, and more, further shaping his distinctive sound and musical identity.
Over the past decade, Alibi's discography has garnered widespread acclaim and support from industry
heavyweights. His versatile productions
span a range of styles, consistently earning chart positions and DJ
accolades. With his music receiving regular rotation in the sets of top DJs like Bryan Gee, Roni Size,Goldie, London Elektricity, S.P.Y., every new release becomes a download-on-sight proposition.
His longstanding relationship with record labels such as V Recordings, Liquid V, and Chronic has been a
cornerstone of his career, leading to seminal releases like the acclaimed 2018 album 'Said & Done'. Alibihas also collaborated with esteemedimprints such as Shogun Audio, CIA, Hospital, Innerground, and DARKMTTR.
Beyond the studio and radio, Alibi's electrifying live performances have captivated audiences at
renowned festivals worldwide, including Glastonbury, Sun & Bass, Exit Festival, Donauinsel Festival,Boomtown, Rampage Open Air, Let It Roll Open Air, and legendary venues like D-
Edge in São Paulo, Fabric and The Steel Yard in London, Grelle Forelle in Austria, and Rex Club in Paris.
Upcoming projects for 2024 include a 4-track EP‘Dismissed EP’
on Footnotes Records, a record label from the established British artist LSB. Additionally, Alibi has contributed to the '30 Years of V Recordings' album with four tracks. Three of these tracks, 'Rave Digger VIP', 'Middlemen' with A- Audio, and 'Misfit' with Urbandawn, have already been released, with the remaining track 'Majesty' set to be unveiled soon.This album features various artists includingVoltage,Break,Chimpo, Need For Mirrors, Dillinja
, and many others. Alibi also has a collaboration track with Brazilian fellow artists Urbandawn and L-Side forUrbandawn's album on Hospital Records, and a collaboration with the British Unglued and MC SweetieIrie titled 'Dubbin’ Out.
