We've added two brand-new drone camps to TRCamp 2026, and these are unlike anything we've offered before. I've piloted these in my classes and they are ready for TRCamp!
For your 6th–12th grader (Week 1, June 15–19):
Drone Engineering: Introduction to Drone Flight Operations and Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS)
Your camper has been cleared for takeoff. This week they won't just learn to fly a drone — they'll build one and engineer the missions required to be successful.
Starting from components, they'll assemble a Hopper® quadcopter, learn the physics that keep it in the air, and write code that tells it exactly where to go. Then they'll compete on real mission challenges modeled after emergency response, search and rescue, agriculture, logistics, and public safety. They leave with an FAA TRUST certification in hand and flight experience to successfully fly a drone in the real world planting the seeds for a future career in Drone Engineering and Piloting.
For students in grades 8-12 (Week 3, July 20–24):
This one is for serious students. Advanced flight operations, FPV systems, larger platforms, FAA TRUST, and a real introduction to FAA Part 107 — the commercial drone license. This class is taught by a licensed Part 107 pilot with special guest speakers who fly professionally. Note: you must be ages 16 to sit for the FAA P107 exam but younger students can still attend to learn the requirements when they are ready.
If your child has ever watched a drone video and said "I want to do that" — this is their summer and TRC is the place to be.
Registration is open!!! Camps are starting to fill up now but we have plenty of room in Drone Camps.
