Throughout the reign of King Henry VIII the shape and style of a Tudor Queen's clothing changed quite considerably, keeping up with the latest fashions of the Royal Court. This talk examines each layer in turn, examining the history of each garment and explaining how and why they were worn.Emma Hughes (‘The Lady Time Traveller’) is a Costumed Interpreter based in Cornwall, delivering education sessions, presentations and tours in historic clothing. Specialising in Tudor and Stuart, Victorian and World War II history.
In Emma’s words:
”I was privileged to start my career at Hampton Court Palace, training with Past Pleasures Ltd. as a Costumed Interpreter. The company motto was ‘I can trick you into learning with a laugh’ from Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Yeoman of the Guard, and it’s been my guiding philosophy ever since. History should be fun!”
