About this Event
"The exercise of imagination is dangerous to those who profit from the way things are because it has the power to show that the way things are is not permanent, not universal, not necessary." — Ursula Le Guin
"What does it look like to imagine a future where we all get to be there, not causing harm to each other, and experiencing abundance?" - adrienne maree brown
We are often told that injustice is a fact of life - and part and parcel of our existence on Earth. But what if that was not the case? If we had the time, space, and resources to dream up better and fairer alternatives, what would our world look like?
Join The Advocacy Academy in a collective session imagining what a better society could look like. What systems would this world have? How would we view and value resources? What would our interpersonal relationships look like?
This creative and interaction session will also be exploring our trust in each other, asking if we can trust each other in building this new world together?
❕ Please note ❕
This is an interactive session all about fostering radical imagination and trust-building. We only have space for 33 people to be participating actively in this, so it is really important that everyone who signed up to the event commits to showing up and following through with the event. We will have some nice snacks and non-alcoholic beverages at the event, and attendance is free!
About The Advocacy Academy
The Advocacy Academy is a youth movement based in Brixton. Founded in 2014, it is a space where young leaders with lived experience of injustice get training and support in tackling the issue facing their communities. TAA's Community Department works to link TAA's vision and work with the broader South London community, and hosts conversations, celebrations, and actions to demand a better world today.
- This event is part of Empathy Museum's series, : conversations with writers, activists, practitioners and community leaders asking how we can live better alongside each other. The events are held among our installations at our pop-up space in Brixton, where we're exploring how we can put empathy at the heart of the high street. More info at
