About this Event
Experience the beauty of North Shores Greenwood park during this 2 hour mixed media drawing session focused on botanical art. The session will explore techniques for capturing leaves, flowers, and other foliage in vibrant detail. For the first half, we’ll explore the park to stay warm and get the creativity flowing, starting with warm-up exercises and creative games. Then, we’ll settle in for a longer drawing session where you'll have the opportunity to explore your own unique style and get messy.
You’ll be led by Daniella Mejia. Dani has been painting her whole life, it’s always just been there. Oil is her go-to, but over the last couple of years she’s been exploring other media like acrylic, watercolours, pottery, painting clothes, and resin. Outside art, Dani loves the outdoors and you can find her most days exploring Pacific Spirit Park with her dog.
Drawn Outdoors was founded by Becky Hill, a Vancouver-based illustrator and outdoor artist passionate about creativity, nature, and community connection.
All levels are welcome!
The drawing sessions is by suggested $15 donation. All proceeds from the workshop will be shared between the workshop facilitator—to help cover the cost of materials—and Take a Hike, a local organization the facilitator has chosen to support.
Advance registration is required. All levels and genders welcome!
What We Provide:
- Sketchbook to take home
- Pencils, pens, colour pencils, crayons, and watercolours
- Cover from the elements (if needed)
- A bunch of other creative souls
- A fun time!
What to bring:
- Comfortable walking shoes
- Warm clothing (layers, jacket, hat)
- Water bottle
- Blanket, mat, or camping chair to sit on. (we will be moving so only bring light weight chairs)
- Snacks
This session runs rain or shine, so be sure to dress for the weather!
