About this Event
In 1957 artist Sylvia Sleigh rushed to create 24 paintings, the minimum required for a 'one-man' show. Her chosen subject, the statues in Crystal Palace Park, they would not fidget and were cheaper than professional life models.
Join artist, writer, and researcher Dawn Pereira who will share her extensive knowledge of the statues in Crystal Palace Park. Dawn will reveal the role that artists played in documenting the statues and invite you to reimagine how it felt to be Sylvia all those years ago by drawing the statues yourself.
Experiment with materials and techniques in a supportive session where you will be able to draw the sculptures gathered at the back of Crystal Palace Museum. All ages welcome, no experience required, materials provided.
