Join us for a powerful day of learning and service, co-hosted by The Wilf Center for Public Interest Law at New York Law School and the Downtown Brooklyn Cooperative Parish on Monday January 20, 2025 at 12pm at Park Slope United Methodist Church.
Our MLK Day of Learning & Service event will honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., who was both a Christian pastor and a trailblazing leader for justice and equality. We invite participants of all backgrounds to engage in meaningful in-person workshops and compassionate community service on a day that marks both Dr. King’s enduring legacy and a new chapter in national leadership. Tickets will sell out fast as our others before it, so please register early so you don't get left out!
Event Highlights
12:00 PM – Refreshments and Networking: Break bread together and connect with fellow attendees. First come-first served.
12:30 PM – Keynote Address: Be inspired by a powerful message rooted in justice and community action.
1:00 PM – Breakout Sessions (attendees should only choose one breakout):
- Workplace Protections: Learn strategies to support vulnerable workers and communities
- Houses of Worship as Safe Places: Explore how faith spaces can serve as sanctuaries.
- Fundraising for Bonds or Legal Services: Empower religious organizations to fund critical legal needs.
- Standby Guardianships for U.S. Citizen Children: Protect families and ensure stability for children.
- Sandwich-Making for the organization: Help assemble meals for neighbors in need.
2:00 PM – Collective Debrief: Come together to share insights and next steps for action.
This workshop is open to everyone—law students, professionals, community members, people seeking, and advocates—who share a vision for a fairer world.
