VMU Academia cum laude invites you to its monthly public lecture entitled "Artificial Intelligence - Blessing or Curse?" The lecture will be delivered by Dr. Jan Kuper.Artificial Intelligence is more and more present in our world. In this talk we will not be concerned with technical intricacies of AI, but instead focus on its moral aspects and what it means for our life and society. We will try to distinguish different levels of impact on moral issues that are raised by the applications of AI. We will not give answers, but hope to trigger some discussion.
Jan Kuper studied mathematics and its philosophy and holds a PhD in the foundations of mathematics and computer science. His lecturing and research during his career at the University of Twente in The Netherlands included topics like the essence of computer reasoning, and the relationship between language and philosophical logic. During the last ten years of his university life he started and supervised the development of a mathematical language to define computer processors. He co-founded the company QBayLogic that is based on the system that was developed during these last ten years of research at the university.
The lecture is free of charge and open to all. Prior registration is not required.
The lecture will only be available in person. It will not be streamed online and no recording will be made.
