Join us to mark the 82nd anniversary of the D-Day invasion of Normandy landings and the 26th anniversary of The National WWII Museum. Presented in memory of D-Day veteran and Museum friend Dr. Harold “Hal” Baumgarten, The National WWII Museum’s annual D-Day commemoration remembers the men who landed on the beaches of Normandy on June 6, 1944. This year’s program will feature Rosie the Riveters, recipients of the 2026 American Spirit Award. These women answered the call to serve by joining the wartime workforce and taking on demanding roles that had long been reserved for men—reshaping women’s place in American society as a result. Learn how their labor helped produce critical supplies to support the Allied fighting forces on D-Day, and join us in honoring their vital contributions to our country.
During your visit, be sure to grab a free Commemorations Family Activity Guide to learn more about the different days The National WWII Museum commemorates each year and spark your little one's interest in WWII history.
This event is free and open to the public. Register today to join us in person or to view the event online. https://www.nationalww2museum.org/events-programs/events/dr-hal-baumgarten-d-day-commemoration-138098
