Installment #4. This brings my most dynamic range of music from many genres. If you have the energy this will be a wonderful cardio workout. Expect exposure to new music, all very danceable. I strive to create a safe space, no judgement, no pressure. We'll begin with a short movement practice. The venue is absolutely amazing for this type of event. Guidelines for Ecstatic Dance:
We dance barefoot
We dance sober and/or with a clear mind (people in recovery are welcomed)
There are clear rules of consent (posted in the discussion)
We are non-judgmental
We create a safe space
We have an emphasis on community
We also encourage mindfulness and spiritual exploration
We don't allow phones on the dance floor
We don't allow cameras or video recorders on the dance floor
We don't allow verbal conversations on the dance floor (move to a space outside ear's reach if you choose to talk)
We are inclusive of all ages, races, cultures, religions, gender, orientation
(regarding contact improv... most people know I am also involved in the CI community, and this is not a CI event. However, there will likely be CI dancers in attendance who have a system for consent and CI'ers intend to dance only with other known CI'ers)
