The University of Bedfordshire is delighted to welcome entrepreneur and STEM / STEAM advocate, Dr Anne-Marie Imafidon MBE, as the next speaker in our ‘Powered by Experience’ lecture series.

Taking place on the Luton Campus, this special event – coinciding with International Women’s Month – will give attendees the opportunity to hear first-hand insights from Anne-Marie as she sits down with a panel of students and staff to explore how we can build meaningful, resilient careers in a rapidly changing world.

Led by a panel of students and staff, the session will also explore our shared responsibility to create fairer and more inclusive workplaces across all industries. In line with the UN theme for International Women’s Day 2026, ‘Balancing the Scales’, Anne-Marie will reflect on what equity and equality look like in practice.

This event forms part of the University’s ongoing commitment to Career-Powered Education, connecting students with influential voices and real-world expertise to inspire ambition, confidence and impact.



What will the event be about?

Dr Anne-Marie Imafidon MBE will sit down with a panel of students and staff to explore how we can build meaningful, resilient careers in a rapidly changing world. Drawing on her experience across STEM / STEAM, education and social impact, Anne-Marie will share practical insights on navigating career decisions, career transitions and long-term professional growth – whether you are just starting out or rethinking your path.

The panel will also examine our shared responsibility to create fairer and more inclusive workplaces across all industries. In line with the UN theme for International Women’s Day 2026, ‘Balancing the Scales’, Anne-Marie will consider what equity and equality look like in practice. Looking ahead, she will turn to the future of work, exploring how emerging technologies, shifting industries and changing career patterns are reshaping opportunities. She will reflect on how we can adapt to these changes while ensuring progress is inclusive, equitable and beneficial for women and other underrepresented groups in every sector.



Biography – Dr Anne Marie Imafidon MBE:

Dr Anne-Marie Imafidon MBE is a recognised and respected thought-leader, voted the most influential woman in tech in the UK of 2020 by Computer Weekly. She is featured among the top 50 women in tech, globally, by Forbes Magazine and served as President of the British Science Association from 2022-2023.

In 2013, Anne-Marie founded and became CEO of Stemettes – a social enterprise which aims to engage, inform and connect young women and non-binary people into STEM & STEAM.

She is a sought-after media commentator, with media appearances on Sky News, BBC, and Bloomberg. Anne-Marie was also the temporary Arithmetician for 60 episodes on Channel 4’s Countdown – the world’s longest-running game show – and serves as the Chancellor of Glasgow Caledonian University, and Co-Chair of the Institute for the Future of Work and Chair of UD Music Foundation. Her first book ‘She’s In CTRL’ was published in September 2022. In 2025 she became the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology’s Women in Tech Envoy, co-chairing a Taskforce with the Secretary of State.

In 2017, Anne-Marie was awarded an MBE for services to young women and STEM sectors and has been awarded Honorary Doctorates from the Open University, Glasgow Caledonian University, Kent University, Bristol University, Coventry University, Royal Holloway, University of London & Bath University as well as an Honorary Fellowship at Keble College, Oxford.
