Every First Friday is an Art Walk in downtown Hanover - a chance to meet local artists and connect with other local art lovers! This is free and all ages are welcome. Here are the stops along the route: Little Fox Coffee & Books
Come and meet Timothy Gasper as our monthly artist in residence for October!
Tim is a self-taught artist who has been painting for over 40 years. Tim has had one-man exhibits in Vermont, New Hampshire, and West Virginia. His work has appeared in Boston Spirit magazine and on television on a Destination America episode of “Ghosts of Shepherdstown.”
The Art Guild
The October featured exhibit at the Hanover Area Arts Guild is work by the Plein Air Painters Group. These artists have been creating images throughout the year at various locations in the area, working outdoors "en plein air" in a variety of media: oil, pastel, watercolor, and acrylic. Also available will be the "name your price" opportunity to find an artwork treasure to take home for exactly the right price.
Rainbow Rose Center and Dolphin & Anchor Brew Pub (please include both logos)
Penny's Piece's began five years ago but Penny has had a love for art all her life. She has an associates degree in graphic design but tends to be more of a fine artist: Penny can paint or draw on anything! Most of her pieces are painted on slate tile and wooden pieces, however, custom pieces are her favorite!
Fat Bat
October's featured artist at Fat Bat Brewing will be in-house artist and brewer, Kevin Smith. Kevin was formally trained at South Western High School under Bob Glover. His pug dog "Lady Gaga" was his muse when he developed the mascot for the brewery. Our Taproom is the gallery for his canvas and mutli-media Fat Bat art.
The Serpent's Key
Ryder Stephens is a mixed media artist and Hekatean witch from New Jersey. Her work weaves together art and ritual and is born out of intensity or passion. Using acrylic and oil paint, knives, texturizing compound, and ethically sourced organic materials, each piece is created in rhythm with the lunar cycle and imbued with a defensive magic designed to protect its owner, absorb negativity, and offer empowerment. With a style that is abstract, edgy, and unapologetically witchy, Ryder’s work invites viewers to feel safe, powerful, and seen, while reminding them that beauty and strength can be born from the discarded and the sacred alike. As long as there is emotion to be expressed, there is creativity to be explored.
Wicked Gems
Nolina Sutherland discovered her love for stained glass in 9th grade and hasn’t looked back. Decades later, she continues creating vibrant pieces that bring love and light into the world.
Warehouse Gourmet
Warehouse Gourmet will be displaying 40 pieces of work by local artist, Keith Stambaugh, in the new Event Gallery @ The Warehouse. Showcasing "[re]Collection," with some collaborated pieces with his wife, Melinda. A mix of acrylic on canvas and pastel on paper, most paintings have never been shown and are abstract or abstract/representational. Paintings are brightly colored in nature in Keith's hand-built frames.
The Art Walk is October 3rd (every First Friday) from 5p-8p. If you are a local artist interested in being featured by one of these businesses, feel free to reach out to those businesses or you can dm us here and we'll get you set up!
