Down East Engine Company Operations – Atlantic Canada is an 8-hour, hands-on program focused on building aggressive, efficient, and effective engine company performance—with a clear priority of getting water on the fire.
Program Overview:
This course is built to deliver practical, street-ready skills that translate directly to the fireground. This training is designed to allow all ranks from the nozzle firefighter to chief officers who buy equipment to better understand modern attack packages. Participants will gain experience and confidence in:
· Low-pressure attack packages and real-world application, including flowing with Jerry Herbst (Elkhart Brass)
· Hose deployment from bumper lines to extended stretches, including 300’ and 400’ minute man pre-connects for urban and rural settings
· Nozzle work and water application techniques
· Extending hose lines with racks
· Smooth bore nozzle operations
· Estimating stretches
· ½ bent tip operations for fires in void spaces
· Street-smart engine company operations and mindset
· Ram / Blitz monitor operations
· Instruction led by experienced firefighters with real-world operational backgrounds.
· Elkhart Brass nozzles
· Snap – Tite low pressure hose
