The Western Heights Preservation Society are pleased to be able to invite you to their only public open weekend of 2026 at the Drop Redoubt on Dover's Western Heights on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st June 2026, open 10am to 4.30pm both days. The fort is only open to the general public once this year so why not come and visit this unique Napoleonic structure and fortification.
Join us for military re-enactments and explore the Napoleonic fort at your leisure. See first hand the restoration work carried out at this amazing site. Explore the tunnels, try the children's activities, go down into the casemates, view the cells and the main gunpowder magazine or enjoy the amazing views of Dover, France and the castle from the top.
The Grand Shaft staircase is open, explore the unique triple helix staircase stacked one on top of the other, 140ft down (or up) through the white cliffs of Dover.
Limited free parking is available at the St Martins Battery carpark (W3W overt.basics.roost
Admission is just £5 per adult allowing unlimited entry both days and children go free. EH members half price entry (special event).
