About this Event
DOUBLE BILL: Hestor Dart and Patricia Auchterlonie
19:00 meet(me) - Hestor Dart
meet(me) is a solo programme of one person duets, exploring solitude, internalised longing and the interrelation or cracks between musical genres. I am pleased to be showcasing a new commission, True Thomas, by Rufus Isabel Elliot for voice, violin and small speaker, alongside a varied collection of pieces for one voice plus*.
*violin, tape, distortion
Hestor Dart is a singer, musician and maker with an interest in expansive and ugly sound, traditional crafts and collaborative practice. Some current obsessions include weaving songs, trash music and the tale of True Thomas.

21:00 Patricia Auchterlonie - New Seahorse Songs
New Seahorse Songs are sung to wind their way into the waiting inner ear. New Seahorse Songs are sung for being alive. New Seahorse Songs are sung to explain a yearning to become the ocean. They are sung to myself, as a gesture of kindness and they are sung to you, as a gesture of invitation. They are asking for help and giving of help. New Seahorse Songs are nautical, delicate, playful, noisy, fumbling, fragile and expansive. Your ears and your eyes will be full: a wind-up seal, a singing hearing aid, buckets of mixed-up Maria Callases, trios with old phones, a fairy kidnapping, and a hand-made banjo will be knitted together into an unlikely and cocooning sweater for my voice to wear. New Seahorse Songs is a programme for a solo performer and all the instruments/toys she can play at once. It is also a programme or voice and nothing else at all.
Patricia Auchterlonie is a singer, performer, and maker looking to explore all that is playful/colourful/unexpected. She is obsessed with uncovering the kaleidoscope of the human voice and with weaving - both sounds and thread. She is always on the search for new ways of making sound - current fascinations include english folk music, balkan singing, tambour embroidery, the vocal works of Beat Furrer, and troubadour music. She is interested in the slow fermentation of the artistic process and in the risky co-making of creating new works collaboratively.
