About this Event
P LEASE NOTE THAT THE DURATION OF THIS EVENT SHOWN ABOVE IS ONLY APPROXIMATE AND CANNOT BE GUARANTEED; IT WILL DEPEND ON FACTORS SUCH AS THE WEATHER AND THE WALKING PACE OF THE GROUP.
Since this is a Public Transport walk there is no charge, unlike our Sunday coach walks where we make a charge to cover the coach costs.
Our Sunday rambles usually have three levels of walk, strenuous (A), moderate (B) or leisurely (C), led by Birmingham Ramblers group leaders. Join us and enjoy a great day of social walking with our friendly members.
Please note: Our walks are often on rough tracks and rights of way through fields, woodland and hills. Walkers should preferably wear walking boots and other clothing suitable for the weather. Unless otherwise described, please bring a packed lunch and refreshments for the day.
This Sunday walk has 3 levels of walk:
- A Walk: Details of distance and ascent will be added when available
- B Walk: Total Distance 9.5 miles, flat. Expect mud in places.
- C Walk: Details of distance and ascent will be added when available

- A Walk: Walk details will be added when available
- B Walk: This circular walk sets off to Dorridge Park then enters a board walk through winter woodland. Once out of the woodland our route continues South mostly on field paths and some sections of road to the Stratford canal. After crossing the canal at a drawbridge we amble through more fields to St Mary the Virgin church at Lapworth. This grade 1 listed building began life in 12th century, with a separate tower added in 14th Century. I’m hoping there will be a fine display of snowdrops to admire during our coffee break. Leaving the church via field paths, a cricket ground and maybe, peacefully grazing cattle, we join the Stratford canal and walk on the tow path beside a flight of locks to our lunch stop at The Boot Inn. After lunch we explore the canal basin before heading back north along a lane and then take a track to Packwood House, A National trust property. After some further lane walking we divert to Packwood Hall and then follow a lane back to Dorridge park and the station.
- C Walk: Walk details will be added when available
