About this Event
Dopereaders Book Club was created as a safe space where a diverse community of book lovers meet and discuss authors, titles, and relevant topics.
With the aim to give the appropriate attention and resonance to Black and BIPOC authors and to share their work, Dopereaders works passionately to bring literacy and a love for words to everyone, concentrating a great part of their attention on young black men, who are statistically left out of the game for no fault of their own.
In our ongoing collaboration with Dopereaders, in August we are welcoming author Kelechi Okafor to discuss her stunning debut collection Edge of Here, which combines the ancient and ultramodern to explore tales of contemporary Black womanhood. In scenarios that are imaginative but not too far from reality, Okafor’s sci-fi tales ask us to look introspectively at how we live, and contemplate the way it will shift in the near future…
Every ticket includes a welcome cocktail.
Here at Dopereaders every voice is valued, and every opinion is heard. Whether you're a seasoned bibliophile, bookstagrammer or just interested, our welcoming atmosphere fosters meaningful exchanges and a deeper appreciation of literature.
Through monthly meetings, engaging discussions, and exclusive author Q&A sessions, we delve into the core of each title, uncovering layers of meaning and unraveling the marvels woven into every chapter.
