This three‑part series explores both the mental and physical development of the ridden horse through correct, logical, progressive training.
These sessions will delve into both the psychology and biomechanics of our horses. Meaning, they are ideal for everyone, from owners, recreational riders through to elite riders and coaches.
Part 1 - Allowing the horse to establishing trust, curiosity, and basic body awareness
This session will focus on gaining the horse's confidence and providing clarity to help develop rhythm, relaxation and balance.
Rob Lovatt is a Fellow of British Horse Society, BHS Chief Examiner and an Honorary Fellow of Lancashire University for his commitment to vocational training, with decades of experience coaching riders from grassroots through to elite level.
Rob’s coaching philosophy is; "Keep it as simple as possible for both the horse and the rider to understand, with a strong emphasis on explaining to horses, rather than making them do something".
Across practical, discussion‑led sessions, Rob will share with us exercises and his top tips and explain why it is very important when training horses for any aspect of ridden work, that there is a clear and simple process for the horse to follow and that we shouldn't 'Don't Skip the Basics'.
Horse's mental development will look at:
* Building Trust and Confidence
* Encouraging Curiosity
* Developing Emotional Regulation
* Understanding Pressure and Release, and
Physical development, will look at:
* Rhythm and Relaxation
* Finding Forward
* Basic Balance
* Proprioception
