About this Event

Dear Members,
Please join us for our next Donors' Forum meeting on Wednesday, May 15th, 2024. It will be a hybrid meeting: We will meet both on Zoom and in person. The in-person gathering, courtesy of David Brennan, will take place at the offices of Quattuor Capital Partners of Raymond James on the 12th floor at 320 Park Avenue (on the west side of Park between 50th and 51st Streets).
The meeting will run from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. (EDT) We begin and end precisely on time. Please note: We record our discussions and archive them on our website, so that they will be available in the future.
We will have two guests: Jeff Kempler and Jason Flom, co-founders of Lava Media, LLC, which includes the Lava for Good Podcasts. The reason we are speaking with the co-founders of a for-profit organization is the principal activity of Lava for Good. From its website: "Lava for Good creates standout original content, podcasts, and experiences, amplifying the voices of contemporary social justice champions and inspiring action toward a more informed, empathic, and just society." The website houses podcast interviews on a variety of topics; in every respect, aside from its structure, Lava for Good addresses important social issues as much as any nonprofit might.
A large part of our conversation will involve the economic and social costs associated with the wrongly incarcerated and those wrongly spending their lives on death row.
Last summer the Mid-Atlantic Innocence Project honored Jeff and Jason with its Champions for Justice Award as "storytellers who shine a light on the wrongfully imprisoned and often play a critical role in securing their freedom." Jason is a founding board member of The Innocence Project.
You can learn more about Jeff here and about Jason here.
As always, those who join us will engage in an interactive, discussion-oriented format. Doug White, a thought leader on nonprofits and philanthropy, whose most recent book is "Wounded Charity" (2019), is the moderator.
For those who will join us in person, please respond to this email. The in-person response (RSVP) deadline is Friday, May 10. Please arrive at Raymond James after 8:00 a.m. but no later than 8:15 a.m.
For those joining us by Zoom, please register (RSVP) with our Eventbrite link. You'll receive the link to join the Zoom Room in the confirmation message from your registration along with reminders with the handy zoom link embedded.
Note: Out of respect to our speaker, if you sign up, please attend. We need to provide, in advance, the building's security people with the names of those who attend in person. (The room we will be in at Raymond James holds a limited number of people.)
Many thanks!
Stanley, Deborah, and Brittany
