The Donelson Gateway Project, (which has been around since 2007), has for the last 7+ years been slowly building and creating the tollgate site. DGP has been accepting donations, planting honorary trees, and tending, trimming, watering, and mulching those trees, & has finally taken the site to the next step. The approximately 1 acre site has been slowly transformed into a certified arboretum. After years of work, applications being filled out, development, research, and site inspections, last month the Tennessee Urban Foresty Council has awarded the site the designation as a Level 1 Public Arboretum. With over 30 species of unique trees, and each tree is labeled with the Latin and common name, The Donelson Gateway Project is hoping this site will offer it's neighbors, a visually beautiful roadside reminder to help " Keep Donelson Beautiful"…!
Join us on Saturday May 11th, 2024 at 3pm for a special ceremony unveiling the plaque and touring the site.
Corner of Lebanon Pike and Stewart's Ferry. Please park on Donelsonwood Dr.
After we will be celebrating our certification with community as we gather at Homegrown Taproom and Kitchen on Old Lebanon Road.
