We’re super excited to host 2025 Welsh Music Prize winner Don Leisure for an exclusive evening of conversation, live music and DJ set at the Tangled Parrot Record shop on Swansea’s High Street.
We’ll be chatting to the Cardiff based beatmaker about his journey through music, Tyrchu Sain, his creative process and what the future holds. He’ll then be spinning some of his favourite records in an intimate DJ set in the Tangled Parrot, after dark. We'll also have live music from Loafus.

Welsh beatmaker Don Leisure has become renowned as one of the most forward-thinking and experimental producers in today’s music scene. Best known as one half of Darkhouse Family (alongside Earl Jeffers), he’s collaborated with Angel Bat Dawid, Gruff Rhys, DJ Spinna, and First Word label-mates Amanda Whiting and Tyler Daley (Children of Zeus). His innovative sound has earned widespread support from the likes of Lauren Laverne, Tom Ravenscroft, Huw Stephens, Gilles Peterson, Huey Morgan, The Vinyl Factory, Clash, Uncut, and many more.
Don’s Welsh Music Prize–winning album Tyrchu Sain (“Digging Sain”) sees the Cardiff-based producer dive deep into the archives of Wales’ legendary Recordiau Sain (Sain Records), unearthing hidden gems and reimagining them through beats, loops, and warm analogue textures.
Blending nostalgia with forward-looking creativity, Tyrchu Sain celebrates Welsh musical heritage while pushing it into new territory. Featuring guest appearances from fellow Welsh Music Prize winners Gruff Rhys and Boy Azooga’s Dave Newington, the album—and Don’s DJ sets—offer a sound that’s both rooted in history and unmistakably contemporary.
