La Boh`eme is Puccini's most famous oper and perhaps his finest work. It rells the story of four struggling young artists in Paris in the late 1880. Rodolfo the poet falls in love with Mimi a seamstress and Marcello the painter is in a tempestuous relationship with Musetta. Life for Bohemian artists is not easy and this wonderfully romantic opera ends in tragedy when Mimi dies and Rodolfo is heartbroken.
La Cenerentola - or Cinderella - Rossini's comic opera overflows with joyous music as it retells the famous fairy tale of Cinderella living a life of drugery for her ugly stepsisters until she meets her prince proving that dreams do come true. Written in just three weeks, when Rossini was 25 years old, the opera has some of his finest writing for solo voice and ensembles and will appeal to audiences of all ages.
The Magical Opera Gala brings a delightful mix of classic opera arias, duets and ensembles in the first half and lighter muisc in the second. Nine of Diva Opera'stop singers will bring entertain with lively performances and will be joined by the inimitable Richard Suart, star of many of our Opera Galas. This is an evening with something for everyone to enjoy.
