What to Expect: A relaxing session of yoga surrounded by adoptable puppies and dogs from the ANNA Shelter. Snuggle time is available before and after the class. No yoga experience is necessary. Must love dogs! Proceeds benefit the Schuster Theatre's trip to Edinburgh, Scotland to perform in the Fringe Festival.
About the Instructor: Kim Lawrence RYT 200
About 15 years ago, after many years of working in a high-paced, quota-driven environment, I found myself stressed- out, exhausted and sick and of tired of feeling sick and tired. So, after a little bit of research, I decided to try out yoga at a local YMCA. At first, I felt really awkward and self-conscious. But the teachers there were very welcoming and supportive, and I decided to stick with it. I practiced yoga in many of our local studios to experience the many styles of yoga and the different approaches and personalities of the teachers. In 2018, I decided to pursue becoming Registered Yoga Teacher – RYT 200. Since then, I have been teaching at various local events and at the YMCA. In 2022, I went on to earn my Meditation Teacher’s Certificate with the goal of bringing bits and glimpses of calm to my yoga students. By sprinkling the poses of essential yoga with hints of mindfulness, I am able to help my students experience yoga that is fun, relaxing and kind-to-self. My classes are carefully planned to be inclusive to anyone who wishes to participate. I use a multi-level style to ensure that every student is able to have a great experience. By combining classic poses that are fun and energizing with easy tips for balance and a soothing, restorative savasana at the end of class, I help students to find the balance and a sense of calm that they so deserve.
