- 6 players on the court
- When the whistle is blown children run to the centre to collect the ball.
- Children cannot pass the centre red line.
- No throws can be made for 3 seconds (this is to prevent balls being thrown directly in the face when trying to get them from the centre)
- After 3 seconds the sports leaders will shout PLAY and the balls can be thrown
- There are no OUTS as such in this format, but every time a child is hit with a ball the team who threw the ball that team receives a point.
- If a child is hit with the ball they do not have to leave the court, they continue playing.
- A team can gain a point IF (the ball hits a player before it has touched the floor- eg has not rolled/ bounced, one of your team member catches a thrown ball)
- A hit = ball hits a player before it has touched the floor- eg has not rolled/ bounced. A catch has failed but the ball has struck you (eg touched hand or dropped ball). A ball is caught by the opposing team (eg red throws and green team, green team catch it)
- NO HITS ARE COUNTED ABOVE NECK
- Players must stay inside the court at all times.
- Play continues until the time is up.
- Teams are trying to get as many points as possible
- Please submit a school team name for your Dodgeball team for a bit of fun!
Sports Leaders from Claremont will be refereeing the matches and counting the points.
We are implementing a no sit out rule to ensure inclusivity and positive experiences for these pupils, there is nothing worse that joining in and being hit within the first 5 seconds and never playing that match again. Please remember this is about introducing this age to positive experiences of competition.
