Beginning in 1929, the U.S. government forcibly removed people of Mexican descent from the United States. In California, approximately 400,000 American citizens and residents of Mexican decent were deported to Mexico. Directed by Vicente Serrano, 2008. Learn more about these events during a screening of Vicente Serrano’s documentary, A Forgotten Injustice. Francisco Balderrama, PhD, co-author of Decade of Betrayal; Christine Valenciana, associate professor emeritus; director Vicente Serrano; and M. Guadalupe Espinoza, daughter of deportees, will be on hand for a post-screening conversation with Esperanza Sanchez, associate curator.

Join us for each installment, which includes a discussion with the filmmaker and other guest speakers connected to the film or topic. In addition, join a free tour at 6pm; each tour provided is themed around each film screening. All films are free and presented on Thursday nights unless otherwise noted.
