About this Event
Waiting is frustrating and irritating at best, frightening at worst. It can also be an invitation to sense the richness and promise of God in the midst of everyday experiences. In this afternoon we will dwell deeply on the opportunity that Advent, the season of waiting, offers us to encounter the reality of God’s joy as we wait on and for the one who is our salvation – the one who shows us that the universe is made in love and we are called to joyous celebration.
The afternoon will be followed by the opportunity to attend St Paul’s Cathedral’s Advent Carol service at 5.30pm, one of the year’s most atmospheric services in which with readings and music we travel from darkness to light.
The Ven Dr Rachel Mann is a poet, priest and novelist, and the Archdeacon of Salford and Bolton. The author of numerous books, her latest is Do Not Be Afraid: The Joy of Waiting in a Time of Fear, the Archbishop of York’s Advent Book 2024.
