Selections from Gustav Holst’s The Planets offer striking musical portraits of our celestial neighbors, while music from Gladiator, ET, Star Trek, and the Star Wars suite bring sweeping drama. The program also features the luminous final movement of John Adams’s Harmonielehre along with Missy Mazzoli’s Orbiting Spheres, a vivid contemporary work shaped by motion and light.
