Shout, Sister shout! Happy birthday to the Godmother of Rock'n'Roll: groundbreaking guitarist, songwriter and singer Sister Rosetta Tharpe, born March 20, 1915! The first recording star of gospel music, she was one of the first to use distortion on her electric guitar. Her European tour with Muddy Waters in 1964 had a profound influence on British guitarists Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, and Keith Richards.This week's tunes provided by DJ Nomad (Lawrence Chan).
