We are going to explore the basics of DJing and musical form. By the end of the class, you should be able to properly count and identify musical phrases and understand what you need to be a successful DJ business in Ontario. We will then get our hands wet behind the decks and try to mix a track or two! This is DJ Basics 101: Session #1. Everyone is welcome!

- What does it take to be a full-time DJ?
- Business Plan: You can start now
- Understanding musical form: Music theory basics
🎵🎧🎛Practical
- Learn how to count music
- Count groups of 4, a lot...
for example: 1,2,3,4/2,2,3,4/3,2,3,4/4,2,3,4...
- Understanding musical form ---> mixing two tracks together
- Mix two tracks of the same beat pattern and genre.
- Describe and practice "vocal to vocal" technique, beatmatching and quick mixing.
