About this Event
DI·A·LECT is back with a new chapter Saturday, February 22nd.
For v.7, we're hosting a pair of underground fixtures here in the Oakland underground, with Bored Lord supplying the soundtrack and a live set from Big Hongry, celebrating the release of his new project Akaneli Stew.
As always, The Musele Project will come together and transform for multiple sets of expansive, improvised sound. Accompanying those sets, we'll have the otherwordly experimental film work of Billie Ocean.

Since his early days in Richmond, Hongry's been a fixture in the Bay Area rap scene for a decade-plus, crafting sturdy, precise bars that gun the gamut from shit talking, to storytelling, to casually imparted pearls of wisdom. Beyond rap, Hongry has deep roots in subcultures of all shapes and sizes, from the skate world (including co-founding the brand Break Free), to photography, to holding down drums and percussion as part of The Musele Project. For the 22nd, he'll be debuting tracks from his latest, a collaboration with DJ and producer Rugged Joints, Akaneli Stew, with live accompaniment from Musele.

A collaborative, ever-shifting ensemble, Musele first formed around Sunday night gatherings centered on long-form, spontaneous compositions that traverse musical histories and invite exploration of interior emotionality through drone, groove, repetition and free improvisation. Among others, Musele features musicians Zekarias Thompson, Josh Wismans, Ben Rodgers, Philip Laurent, Big Hongry, Will Kocsis, Noah Roberts, and Justin Clark.
