About this Event
diyaudio.nyc has regular meetups to get together and share recent projects (e.g. showing off a new pair of speakers, or an amp, or some cables, or a subwoofer - anything audio related) as well as talks / demos on related skills (e.g. how to solder, how digital crossovers work, fabrication techniques for an amp chassis, the ins and outs of digital room correction, etc). DIY audio equipment is often solitary hobby, and it's always a thrill to find some likeminded folks.
This month's meetup will focus on designing digital crossovers, as well as a demonstration of how to build your own RCA interconnects - but there may be more - folks are always encouraged share projects they're working on and can bring along - the more the merrier.
Who should come?
Open to anyone interested in DIY home audio - all experience levels welcome. If you've ever wanted to build any audio gear, we're here for you. (We're generally not focusing on production, live sound, musical instruments, or making music, although there certainly is some overlap.)
Note from the organizer, Pete:
I started diyaudio.nyc a couple years ago because I didn't want building my own audio gear to be a solitary hobby anymore. These says, for me, it's all audio all the time - I work as a Buyer with The Music Room - the world's largest buyer and seller of used audio gear, and also, as Gowanus Audio (www.gowanusaudio.com), offer complete classes to build your own equipment. Prior lives involved a woodworking business - Gowanus Furniture - and years in the art world - so have always gravitated toward functional art and design and figuring out how things work.
This is a masks optional event.
As with all NYC Resistor events, this class is 18+ and governed by our Code of Conduct. The Code of Conduct, as well as accessibility information, can be found at www.nycresistor.com/participate/. If you have any questions, please email [email protected]
