DIY Scrappy Shirts with Sonya Philip
Students will learn strategies for pairing together large and small scraps to make a unique shirt, how to cut pattern pieces, as well as methods for combining prints. The neckline is sewn with a facing.
This class is open to all skill levels, the simple pattern offers an easy entry to those sewing clothes for the first time.
Please Note: If you have your own sewing machine, please bring it and send us an email at [email protected] to let us know ahead of time. Machines will be provided if you do not have one! You will need approximately 1.5-2 yards of fabric scrap pieces.
Sliding scale tickets are availabe for every SCRAP Workshop:
- General Admission #1: Covers the cost of workshop and materials

- General Admission #3: Covers cost of workshop, materials, supports the instructor, and helps keep our workshops more accessible
About Sonya Phillip
Sonya Philip is an artist, designer and teacher. Four years ago, Sonya started 100 Acts of Sewing, making dresses while documenting the process. Since then she has made it her mission to convince people to sew their own clothes. When not covered in bits of thread, she can be found knitting, gardening, painting, baking or any activity using her hands. Sonya lives in San Francisco with her family.
