About this Event
Join us for a hands-on workshop where we unlock the secrets of making your own organic plant food. We’ll show you how to turn everyday kitchen scraps into powerful, microbe-rich elixirs that will help your garden thrive—all while reducing waste at home.
Instead of buying expensive chemical products, we’ll look at what we already have. From orange peels to common food waste, you’ll learn how to transform "trash" into a valuable resource that nourishes the soil and supports healthy plant growth.
What You'll Learn & Make:
- Understand Our Waste: We’ll explore the common types of food and horticulture waste generated in Singapore (like orange peels!) and how we can divert them from the bin to the garden.
- Plant Nutrition 101: Learn exactly what nutrients your plants need to survive and thrive, and how natural ingredients can provide them.
- Master the Recipes: Discover different DIY fertiliser methods and learn how to fine-tune your mixtures for specific stages of plant growth—whether you're encouraging leafy greens or blooming flowers.
- Get Hands-On: Under the guidance of our team, you will mix and make your own batch of organic fertiliser right in the workshop.
Who Is This Workshop For?
This is perfect for eco-conscious residents, aspiring urban farmers, or anyone looking to save money while caring for their plants. Whether you have a single potted plant or a full garden patch, these simple, low-cost solutions are for you.
What You'll Take Home:
You will leave with your own bottle of freshly made DIY fertiliser to start using at home once fermented, along with the knowledge to keep making your own supply forever.
Community Pricing:
We believe sustainable living should be for everyone! We're proud to be supported by Singapore's Ministry of Sustainability and Environment, which allows us to run our workshops at an affordable price. Our goal is to strengthen and build communities that can grow together towards a more sustainable life.
All materials (including jars and ingredients) are provided, but feel free to bring some of your own jars or fruit peels to upcycle! Your CNY cookie containers would work best.
