April 4, 2024, commemorates the 25th Anniversary of the charter signing between Dixon, IL and Herzberg/Elster, Germany. July 19-28, 2024, Dixon Sister Cities Association will host a delegation from Herzberg/Elster, Germany to celebrate the anniversary of the charter signing. Host families in and around Dixon have incredible opportunities to learn about our German friends, teach them about our community and work alongside Dixon Sister Cities Members. The relationship through DSCA and Herzberg is strong and we wholeheartedly welcome our German Sister Cities Family to Dixon.
On April 4, 1999, a delegation from Dixon, Illinois & Herzberg, Germany signed the International Sister Cities Charter. A significant purpose of sister cities is to "Promote Peace Through People-to-People Relations." Through sister cities we cultivate wonderful friendships and learn through our correspondences and visits.
