About this Event

Join us at Lower Mill of Tynet for a practical farm walk as part of Nature Friendly Farming Week, celebrating farmers who are building resilient businesses through working with nature.

We’ll explore how diversity across livestock, cropping and on-farm enterprises is strengthening this Moray farm — ecologically and economically — and hear openly about what’s working and what’s challenging.

Designed especially for farmers and growers, this walk offers real-world insight, discussion and peer-to-peer learning.

What We’ll Explore

Diverse Animals

Free-range hens, dairy cows, beef cattle and sheep — how multiple livestock systems work together on one farm.

Diverse Crops

Mixed cereals and forage crops that support soil health, livestock nutrition and long-term sustainability.

Diverse Businesses

Farm shop, milk and ice cream vending, direct sales and added-value products — building resilience through enterprise.

You’ll hear directly from Gordon about the realities of managing complexity, spreading risk, and creating a farm business that works ecologically and economically.

What to Expect

  • A guided farm walk around the farm (approx. 2.5 hours)
  • Honest discussion about what’s working — and what’s challenging
  • Plenty of time for questions and conversation
  • Refreshments will be provided, and there will be an opportunity to visit the farm shop afterwards.

Practical Information

Please wear sturdy footwear suitable for uneven ground.

This is a working farm with livestock — biosecurity guidance will be shared before the event.

Parking available on site.
