About this Event
This is an unrehearsed recreation of old-time whaling practice on the Île-aux-Coudres, a small island in the St. Lawrence River. Whalers used the magic of words and the mystery of the catch, incorporating a spirituality rooted in the moon and the rhythm of the tides. It is a highly regarded cinéma vérité capturing the myths and legends of the traditional fishing communities of Quebec. In French with English subtitles. Made in 1963 by Pierre Perrault, Michel Brault and Marcel Carrière. 3rd floor, Hinton theatre.
