Mark your calendars now for Saturday, May 2, and get ready for a District Conference like no other as Rotary District 6890 heads to Rotary’s Camp Florida for a day of connection, inspiration, and fun. This year’s conference theme captures both the spirit and the setting: “Rotary District 6890 Goes Camping! – S’more Service Happens When We Unite for Good.”
We’re excited to bring back favorite conference elements—and introduce a few new ones. Highlights will include district awards and recognitions and our very own Rotary-style Shark Tank competition, led by Public Image Co-Chair Chad Norgard (Brandon ’86) and assisted by AG Jason Lewis (Tampa), where clubs will pitch bold ideas, showcase projects, and compete for support. If you think your club may be interested in pitching its best ideas in Shark Tank, please let Chad Norgard know.
And yes—there will be another fun, friendly competition, too. Let your bakers know to start warming up the ovens! We’ll host the Great Rotary Baking Show, led by Assistant Governor Jason Lewis (Tampa). If your club has talented bakers ready to compete, be sure to let Jason know.
We’ll also feature a Showcase of Service Projects, giving clubs the opportunity to highlight the meaningful work they are doing locally and globally. Tampa President Connie Gage will be looking for poster presentations, so now is the time to start thinking about how your club can visually tell its service story.
This year, we are proud to inaugurate the Spirit of Rotary Award, a new district honor recognizing outstanding service, leadership, and commitment to Rotary’s values. To learn more about this award, check out the January district newsletter or contact DG Linda Devine or PDG Deborah Williams (RECTS) with any questions.
We are also seeking sponsors to help make this year’s District Conference a success. Sponsorships are a wonderful way to showcase your club or business while supporting an event that brings Rotarians together to unite for good.
Registration will open on March 15. More details will be shared soon. For now, save the date and plan to join us on May 2 at Rotary’s Camp Florida.
Because when Rotarians unite… S’more Service really does happen!
