JEWS IN SCANDINAVIA DURING WW2: WHAT REALLY HAPPENED?
When contemplating what happened to Jewish life in Scandinavia during WWII, most Americans like to know how the Jews in Denmark miraculously fled to Sweden, a country that had declared itself neutral while continuing its close connections to Nazi Germany. But the story is not complete without a look at how Norway and Finland fought their war-time enemy in two distinctly separate ways. Dr. Cami Green Hofstadter, PhD, born a member of the Swedish-speaking minority in post-war Helsinki, Finland, where she finished her first law degree with a concentration on international law. This was followed by a master’s degree at the University of Miami School of Law, and a PhD in Ed Leadership. A retired professor, university administrator and researcher, she’s also a former, long-time Honorary Consul of Finland for S. Florida, where she still lives.
