About this Event
Date: 8 May 2026 - 9 May 2026
One year after launching the RIBA Europe Chapter, we return to celebrate Europe Day—this time in Lisbon. Join us on 8–9 May 2026 for two days of tours, keynote lectures, discussions, and networking. This is a prime opportunity to connect with peers and industry leaders, expand your professional network, and exchange ideas with architects from across Europe. The programme reflects RIBA Europe's commitment to promoting architecture and connecting the architectural community across the continent. Registration is free for RIBA members.
For the keynote session, RIBA Stirling Prize-winning architect Amanda Levete returns to MAAT (the Museum of Art, Architecture, and Technology) to mark a decade since the building's opening. Levete, the museum’s lead architect, will reflect on the project’s genesis and transformational effect on the Lisbon waterfront.
"Through the design of MAAT, we set out to re-establish the connection between city and river. Ten years on, seeing the different ways people use and enjoy the public space we created on the roof of the museum is, to me, a measure of its success." – Amanda Levete.
Beyond the keynote session, the programme offers a rich mix of activities held across a selection of Lisbon's unique cultural landmarks. Highlights include a guided tour of Lisbon’s monumental Aqueduct and Reservoir, an evening party in the vibrant Chiado district, and a walking tour of the celebrated Baixa district.
The event will offer Continuing Professional Development (CPD) learning opportunities. Eligible activities may qualify for RIBA CPD points; please check the detailed agenda or contact us for more information.

Options range from boutique hotels to well-known international chains and smaller guest houses. We encourage you to book your accommodation early, as May is a popular time to visit Lisbon.
