Looking for a fun, practical way to spend your Saturday while supporting healthier, more sustainable living? Join Street Parish Council at Discover Your Community on Saturday 28th March 2026, 10am–2pm at Crispin Hall.This lively community event will bring together local environmental groups, all eager to share their work and showcase ongoing projects, as well as talk about volunteering opportunities. Award winning TV and Radio presenter, Simon Parkin, will also come along to support the event!
One of the highlights of the day will be the “On Your Bike” Dr Bike sessions – a brilliant opportunity for cyclists of all ages and abilities to get their bikes checked over free of charge. Each session will last around 15 minutes and is delivered by Cytech Level 2/3 qualified mechanics, ensuring expert advice.
The mechanics work right in front of you, offering clear, practical guidance. Where time allows, they may also replace essential components such as brake blocks or cables, helping you leave safer and more confident.
The Dr Bike sessions form part of the Avalon & Poldens Local Community Network project, supported by funding from the Somerset Association of Local Councils (SALC)’s Community Health and Wellbeing Fund. Together they aim to enhance bike safety, encourage regular cycling, and promote healthier, more sustainable travel choices.
