The Mullum Mullum Valley is recognised for the richness of its biodiversity and is known to provide habitat to many different plants, birds and other wildlife, but have you seen the fascinating aquatic macroinvertebrates (waterbugs) that live in the Mullum Mullum Creek? Macroinvertebrates that live in the creek include larvae, nymphs, aquatic beetles, worms, and true bugs. They are a challenge to find and an even greater challenge to identify. Join John Helstroom and Gay Gallagher, participants in the Melbourne Water Waterwatch program for this event, where you will use water samples from the creek to identify the macroinvertebrates found - with the added benefit of using our digital microscope to make identification easy. You can also learn a little about how important macroinvertebrates are to the ecosystem and their key role as key indicator species in identifying the health of waterways. Upload your observations during the activity to iNaturalist to be part of the Great Southern Blitz. Register at https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/987781821017?aff=oddtdtcreator
