For the first time in Wisconsin, we will be showcasing six of the exceptional wines from Vega Sicilia, Spain's most celebrated winery. Experience the artistry and heritage of this iconic estate, renowned for its commitment to quality and vineyard-driven wines including Único - made only in exceptional years and aged for a minimum of 10 years. With limited availability and consistently high ratings—such as the 98 points awarded to Vega Sicilia Único by Robert Parker—these sought-after wines offer a unique opportunity to taste the best of what Vega Sicilia has to offer. The Ribera del Duero region has a history of wine production dating back to the Roman occupation nearly 2000 years ago, as well as Cistercian monks growing grapes here since the 12th century. However, in 1864 Vega Sicilia became the first true fine wine estate in the Ribera del Duero region. Over the last 150 years, dozens of other wineries have followed suit, creating wine in this beautiful region to the west of Rioja. Known as the undisputed greatest winery of the Ribera del Duero region, many critics and connoisseurs alike have lauded Vega Sicilia as the best winery in all of Spain. Vega Sicilia revolutionized and elevated the concept of fine wine in Spain by bringing grape varieties and wine-making techniques from the finest Chateau in Bordeaux while maintaining a distinctly Spanish style and approach. The estate is known for its meticulous vineyard management and commitment to sustainable practices. With a philosophy that emphasizes quality over quantity, Vega Sicilia produces some of the most sought-after wines in the world, often with long aging potential. Currently, they are operating four wineries in Spain: the Vega Sicilia estate in Ribera del Duero, Alion also in Ribera del Duero, the Macan estate in Rioja, and the Pintia estate co-owned with Benjamin de Rothschild in Toro. What sets Vega Sicilia apart is its unique blend of traditional winemaking methods and innovative techniques, resulting in wines that are both timeless and contemporary, reflecting the true spirit of Spanish viticulture.
Our Wine and Spirits Director Nate Norfolk will be on hand for this tasting along with Caitlyn Mulligan from Europvin, the importer of the Vega Sicilia wines.
Don’t miss this opportunity to discover why Vega Sicilia is celebrated as Spain's greatest winery! There will also be one-night-only special pricing on all featured wines.
