The first techno made was often created on a drum machine and a couple synthesizers, resulting in a fair amount of space in the tracks created. As studios grew, that space got filled but some music makers opted to hold back and let that space stick around.Starting with artists like Jeff Mills, Richie Hawtin's Plastikman, Carl Craig, Hardfloor and Kenny Larkin the subtle, dark throb of minimal techno was a favorite of many late night dancers. By the early 2000s it saw a substantial resurgence, especially in San Francisco, Berlin, and Detroit.
Dj CLAIRITY (of Isolator SF & on set) will be our guest professor, sharing her love of minimal techno and micro house. AndyW will start up the evening with some minimal techno and dub techno.
