About this Event
The world traveling blues and rock band Dirty Cello is known for bringing their fans to unique and exciting venues.
On May 2 at 7:00 they'll be boarding the Delta King Paddle Wheel Steamer in Old Town Sacramento for a show in the Grand Theater.
Deep in the historic ship is a seldom used, beautiful theater, where Dirty Cello will host an intimate concert with a top notch sound system. Sit back in the comfortable seats, surrounded by the history of the 100 year old ship.
At the show the band will mix their wild blues, rock and Americana with stories of their travels and lots of fun and humor.
The LA times describes Dirty Cello as "The group seamlessly careens from blues to bluegrass and rock in a way that really shouldn't make sense but somehow does."
Located in Old Town Sacramento, the Delta King features an award winning restaurant and a hotel. Go early for dinner or make a whole weekend out of it. Before the show, explore the ship and learn about its history, then head down the gilded staircase to the amazing theater.
Tickets are $25 in advance, $30 at the door.
More about Dirty Cello:
From Iceland to Italy, and all over the U.S., San Francisco-based band Dirty Cello brings the world a high energy and unique spin on blues, rock, and Americana. With wild vocals, and world class cello playing, the group is led by vivacious cross-over cellist, Rebecca Roudman. Dirty Cello is cello like you’ve never heard before. From down home blues and rock with a wailing cello to virtuosic stompin’ Americana, Dirty Cello is a band that gets your heart thumping and your toes tapping!
"The band plays every style imaginable, and does some fantastic covers. (Their rendition of “Purple Haze” is incredible.) But what is most spectacular about them is hearing the depth of soul in Roudman’s playing—it goes beyond what most people would expect from the instrument. She plays it with so much heart, you’ll wonder why more bands don’t have a cellist." Good Times Santa Cruz
"The group seamlessly careens from blues to bluegrass and rock in a way that really shouldn't make sense but somehow does." LA Times
"The ensemble plays a range of eclectic tunes in ways you won’t hear anyone else dare to attempt." - Argus Courier
"Anyone who's been in an audience when the San Francisco Bay Area Dirty Cello takes the stage knows that something unique happens whenever cellist Rebecca Roudman and ensemble come face to face with living, breathing (and whooping and shouting) fans."
