About this Event
Join us for a Dimensions Variable event inspired by select works in the spring exhibition Breathe(e): Toward Climate and Social Justice. Exhibiting artist, biologist, and environmental educator Brandon Ballengée, whose works on view feature paintings of missing species impacted by oil spills, will speak about the ecologies of the Gulf Coast and lead a drawing workshop using a collection of preserved aquatic specimens as references. Additionally, the "apiscultures" of sculptor and fourth-generation beekeeper, Garnett Puett, also on view, provide a starting point for guests to learn about beekeeping from the Houston Beekeeper's Association. Mike Simmons of Thrive Apiaries and Carlos Hernandez, founder of The Bee and Me, will lead the demonstration and offer a local honey tasting.
