About this Event
Join us for an afternoon concert that transforms the classical music experience into a mesmerising journey where digital technology transcends media boundaries and redefines artistic creativity.
At the heart of this innovative concert is Tchaikovsky’s Piano Trio in A-minor, brought to life by the Scotland-based chamber music trio: Alexandra Huang-Kokina on piano, Rebekah Lesan on cello, and Paul Docherty on violin. Building on the successful debut of this event in Sweden in early March, we are now excited to introduce this experience to audiences in Scotland.
Tchaikovsky’s chamber music will be interwoven with AI-animated paintings, synesthetic visuals, and an interactive narrative that places the audience at centre stage. This fusion creates a dynamic interplay between music, words, moving images, digital scenography, electronic literature, and gamification elements, thereby opening up new avenues for exploring the intersections between artistic media.
Moving beyond traditional text-based programme notes, we offer a multimedia commentary on the music. Instead of solely focusing on the historical context of Tchaikovsky’s piano trio, we've crafted a short science-fiction narrative that reimagines his legacy in a millennium ahead — a speculative future where the cacophony of artificial sounds jeopardises humanity’s cosmic ambitions in interplanetary competition, suggesting that our ultimate salvation might lie in silence. This narrative isn't merely an extension of the music; it's a ‘prompt’ to reflect on our simultaneous fear and hope for the future of classical music and human creativity.
Are you ready to embark on this journey? Participate in this concert experience that promises not just to entertain, but to challenge and inspire, inviting you to explore the boundless possibilities in-between music, technology, and multimedia arts.
The event is generously supported by the Cockaigne Fund at Foundation Scotland.
