About this Event

What is it?

Digital Skills 4 Girls is a monthly workshop for girls and non-binary young people aged 10 - 17 who want to learn new digital skills or develop existing skills. From coding and gaming to digital design and video, DS4G is a friendly and supportive environment to learn new skills and meet new friends.

What will I learn?

This exciting workshop using music technology and accessible music creation is for anyone who is up for a bit of creativity. As a group, we will use games, activities and musical democracy to create a new collaborative piece of digital music. Through the workshop, participants will learn about new ways to think about music and will be introduced to the creative space of Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs). Within this workspace the participants will work together to make a joint piece of music that everyone will have contributed their own creative voices to.

Host bio:Connor Bristow

Connor Bristow is a community musician and composer who values collaboration and enjoys the process of developing something new and getting to know other creative people through that process. Their practice encompasses sound, music and technology and they like to explore the boundaries between the three and how they can utilise technology to widen creativity and access. The biggest and most rewarding part of their practice is working with a wide range of community groups to engage non-music makers in the joy of making sound. Through technology, they are continually exploring different forms of interactivity and how this can be.

This session runs at the same time as Prewired, a coding club for under 19s.
