Plug In & Play - Artificial Intelligence at the OCSB
An Evening of Exploration
Part 1: Digital Resilience & Interactive A.I. Night
The Catholic School Parents Association (CSPA), in collaboration with the OCSB Learning Technologies Department, invites parents to a special event featuring Media Smarts and Google. They will be focusing on digital well-being and the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence in education, taking place on Monday, December 1st, from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM at Holy Trinity High School in Kanata.
The first half of the evening features a MediaSmarts: Raising Digitally Resilient Kids Workshop, designed to empower parents by providing an overview of key online risks, specifically content, conduct, and consumer risks. This session teaches practical strategies for fostering digital resilience, helping parents establish healthy household guidelines and maintain open, trusting dialogue to become informed and supportive digital mentors for their children.
Following this, there will be an Interactive portion led by Google on how Gemini, Gems and Notebook LM can be used to empower students' learning. Attendees will get a chance to try out some of the Board’s A.I. tools Gems, Notebook LM and School AI, discovering how the technology is leveraged to enhance student engagement and foster essential skills like Critical Thinking. The discussion will focus on the functionalities and uses of A.I.—what it is and how it can act as a partner in creating a future where every student thrives and learns to use these innovative technologies responsibly.
