About this Event
So you want to digitize your collection! But where to start? Before putting anything on the scanner, there are so many things to consider. This advanced level workshop will introduce you to important groundwork that needs to be in place for a digitization project to succeed. We will cover the indispensable benefits of intellectual and physical control over your collection; the necessity of accurate and descriptive metadata; appropriate and realistic timelines and work plans; how to consider and determine the benefits and pitfalls of in-house versus outsourced digitization; preservation of digitized collections; and access.
